 Volunteer South Simcoe exists to provide support, information and leadership around volunteering in South Simcoe through providing training, a face to face and virtual volunteer centre and one to one support for organizations and individuals involved in volunteering.
Since 1977 CONTACT – South Simcoe Community Information Centre has been providing free community information and referral services to the people of South Simcoe. CONTACT works to improve the life chances of people living in South Simcoe through the provision of community services and by developing projects that meet community need and/or address gaps in service provision. Our programs include the Information Centre, Employment Resource Centre, Housing Resource Centre, The Clothes Line, and now the Volunteer Centre.
In 2006 CONTACT conducted a feasibility study to determine the needs of the local volunteer sector. The findings of the study indicated a need for leadership around volunteering, which was then supported by a Trillium Foundation grant to establish Volunteer South Simcoe.
